Duarte Man Charged In Murder Of Brother Whose Body Was Found At Rose Bowl

PASADENA (CBS) —  Murder charges were filed Thursday against a 55-year-old Duarte man for allegedly killing his brother, whose body was found in a Rose Bowl parking lot.

Clifton Cass was arrested March 15 in connection with the death of his 56-year-old brother Victor Cass, said Lt. Tracy Ibarra of the Pasadena Police Department.

Dwayne Sims, 55, of Duarte was also arrested and charged with being an accessory to murder and a felon in possession of a firearm, Ibarra said.

A city employee discovered Victor Cass' body just before 5 a.m. Feb. 28 in Parking Lot I of the Rose Bowl, Ibarra said.

The case was initially challenging due to a lack of witnesses or a motive for the crime, Ibarra said.

"I am exceptionally proud of the work of lead detective Keith Gomez and the other homicide investigators who worked on this case," Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez said.

"The results of this investigation are symbolic of the Pasadena Police Department's commitment to excellence and to our pursuit of justice for the victims."

Clifton Cass is being held in lieu of $2 million bail. Bail was set at $175,000 for Sims. Both men are expected to be arraigned Friday.
