Married Teachers Accused Of Having Sexual Affair With Male Student, 17
WESTMINSTER (CBS) — A Huntington Beach couple, who are teachers, were arrested Wednesday on charges of having sex with a 17-year-old male high school student.
Daniel Alma Shepard, 62, and his wife Gay Davidson-Shepard, 59, were arrested about 1:15 p.m. at their Huntington Beach home, Westminster police Cpl. Van Woodson said.
When the two had their alleged sexual relationships with the victim Gay Shepard taught at Mesa View Middle School in Huntington Beach and Daniel Shepard taught at Westminster High School, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.
Daniel Shepard met the alleged victim while he was a student at Westminster High School, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, the couple began inviting the boy their their home to drink alcohol, play board games and watch movies in March 2009.
The two are also accused of getting the boy to join them naked in a hot tub at their home in April 2009, according to prosecutors, who also allege Gay Davidson-Shepard performed oral sex on the boy and her husband when they got out of the water.
In addition, the couple is accused of having sexual relations with the boy and giving him alcohol on a weekly basis, according to prosecutors.
Daniel Shepard allegedly had sexual relations with the boy until September 2009 and Gay Shepard continued to allegedly sexually assault him until December 2009 when the alleged victim turned 18, according to the D.A.'s Office.
Daniel Shepard allegedly asked the boy to email nude photos of himself. The defendant is accused of taking nude photos of the alleged victim.
The student told his mother about the alleged relationship with the married couple last month and the mother contacted Westminster police, prosecutors said.
Daniel Shepard is charged with two felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, a felony count of sodomy with someone under 18, a felony count of possession and control of child pornography and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Gay Shepard is charged with three felony counts each of unlawful sex, sodomy with someone under 18, oral copulation of a minor, all felonies, and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The Shepards are scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
