Bicyclist Killed In Silver Lake Gang Attack Identified

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A bicyclist who was shot to death in apparent gang-related attack was identified by police Tuesday.

Manuel Santizo, 28, was shot in the torso about 9:15 p.m. Sunday at Hoover Street and Del Mar Avenue, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Sara Faden said.

Santizo had no known city of residence. He was pronounced dead at a hospital at 9:46 p.m., Sgt. David Armas said.

There were no arrests made in connection with Santizo’s death, Faden said.

Santizo was riding a bicycle when he was bumped from behind by a white or tan Dodge Neon and chased by an armed man on foot, Armas said. The armed man shot Santizo and the car picked the suspect up, fleeing the scene.

The motive for the shooting was not known, Armas said.
