DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Crash In Walnut Park

WALNUT PARK (CBS) — A driver was arrested Monday morning for allegedly killing a pedestrian in Walnut Park, authorities said.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, was struck at 1 a.m. at California Street and Pacific Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. He died at a hospital.

The motorist, 23-year-old  Luis Jimenez, was heading eastbound on California Street when he allegedly drove through a stop sign, lost control of his vehicle and struck the pedestrian, the CHP reported.

The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was booked for manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

No names have been released.
