City Leaders To Unveil Plans For NFL Stadium

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — City leaders are getting ready to unveil their plans for a new NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles.

KNX 1070′s John Brooks Reports

The Proposed Stadium and Events Center Committee will meet for the first time at 8 a.m. Monday.

The committee was formed earlier this year after Staples Center owner AEG said it wanted to build a $1 billion stadium.

The plan calls for tearing down part of the Los Angeles Convention center to make room, as well as rebuilding an expanded exhibition space.

The plan would be carried out using city bond money.

WRONG PLAN… Especially when you have a stadium and sufficient grounds less than 20 blocks away. The coliseum could be renovated to a modern wonder stadium for WAY LESS than what they are going to build on the Convention Center Site. …Some people just don’t think. They just let their money do the thinking for them.

The LA Coliseum was great, when it was built for the 1932 Olympics. but it needs a lot more than a face lift or some gentle remodeling. The Coliseum Commission has tried for years to convince the NFL that its location is a great place for an NFL team to play, and the NFL has POLITELY and resoundingly said, NO, IT’S NOT. USC required some major changes recently before they would commit to playing college games there. And short of starting with several large bulldozers, there is just no way to make this site into a 21st century NFL facility. Is there any real reason why Southern California shouldn’t have a state of the art football stadium, similar to the new Cowboy Stadium?

You must be from USC. Nobody wants to come to University of South Central to see a game. Enough students get robbed and raped around there. No need to bring in extra targets

This is the most absolute idiotic place to put the stadium. Like downtown doesn’t have enough traffic problems. The big wigs don’t care because they fly in on their private helicopters. I think t’s safe to say I would never go to a game there
