Missing Downey Man, 55, Found Dead

DOWNEY (CBS) —  A 55-year-old Downey man, reported missing Wednesday morning and described as depressed and possibly suicidal, was found dead Friday evening near his vehicle in a secluded desert area near Palmdale, according to authorities.

Downey police investigators with the assistance of the sheriff's Search and Rescue Team, found Richard Prisbrey about 6 p.m. Friday approximately 300 yards from his vehicle in an "off-road" recreational area near Littlerock, said Downey police Sgt. Brian Baker.

Prisbrey, who was married and had three children, was last seen leaving his job in El Monte Wednesday morning, Baker said.

Baker said the cause of Prisbrey's death will be determined by the Coroner's Office, but at this time the case was being investigated as an apparent suicide.

Downey police detectives asked anyone who has any information about Prisbrey to call them at (562) 904-2391.
