Search Suspended For Man Who Apparently Jumped Off Port Hueneme Pier

PORT HUENEME (CBS/AP) — The Coast Guard suspended its search for a 25-year-old man believed to have jumped into the ocean from the Port Hueneme Pier.

The agency says the effort ended around 9:45 a.m. Friday after multiple searches by boat and helicopter off Ventura County.

Christopher Fiero apparently jumped into the water Thursday evening on a dare while hanging out on the end of the pier with three female friends. Witnesses told police Fiero jumped, but Fiero's family says they believe he was shoved.

Fiero's three female companions apparently took a photo of Fiero as he was in the water.

Fiero was the father of two young boys.
