Man Stabbed To Death During Downtown Fight

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man was stabbed to death Wednesday during a fight with two other men in downtown Los Angeles, police said.

The crime happened at about 2 a.m. near the Chase Bank building in the 800 block of South Hill Street, Los Angeles police Lt. Paul Vernon said.

The man, in his 40s, died on the sidewalk, Vernon said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

Police sought two men who were seen running from the scene, Vernon said. No descriptions were released of the suspects.

“We don’t know if this was a robbery or just a dispute,” Vernon said.

A security guard from another building discovered the body just before 4 a.m., Vernon said. Vernon said the victim appeared to have been a transient.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police Detective Al Marengo, (213) 972-1249; or Crime Stoppers, (800) 222-TIPS.

  • Another Mexican Crime

Near a bank, it’s possible the suspects force the victim to withdrawal or hand over his atm/pin & withdrawal $$$ before stabbing the victim.

    • Not really

It says the victim was a transient, highly doubt he had a bank account.

      • Mari

the victim was no transient….he was my son!

@Another Mexican Crime: They say he was a transient.Maybe they wanted to empty his food stamp[ account! And I suggest you change your screen name. That’s plain prejudice. Before it was us blacks, now the Mexicans. Am glad we are not the majority among minorities anymore. Definitely gets the bigots off of our a$$e$!
