Huntington Beach Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Killing His Wife 30 Years Ago

HUNTINGTON BEACH (AP) -- A Huntington Beach man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife 30 years ago.

According to Torrance police, Michael Clark was taken into custody Wednesday on suspicion of killing Carol Jeanne Lubahn, his high school sweetheart, wife and the mother of his two children.

Lubahn was last seen at her residence in the 17600 block of Cranbrook Avenue in Torrance on March 31, 1981.  On April 6, her red 1979 Audi Fox was found abandoned at the Red Onion Restaurant in Redondo Beach.  The restaurant manager stated it had been there all week.

The 26-year-old left all her personal belongings behind and never picked up her last two paychecks from her part-time job.  Authorities initially thought she had left of her own accord, although her family said she would never have abandoned her children.

Torrance detective Jim Wallace told local news that Clark's statements over the years about the case were, in part, what prompted his arrest but didn't provide details.  In an earlier interview. Clark said he and his wife had argued the night before her disappearance and when he woke up she was gone.  He reported her missing three days later.
