RIVERSIDE (AP) — Riverside County sheriff’s deputies say they arrested a 51-year-old man after a five hour standoff at his Woodcrest area home.
Deputies told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the confrontation started Sunday afternoon when a man tried to deliver a religious pamphlet to the house and got into an argument with the resident.
As the religious worker was leaving, he told deputies the resident fired one errant shot at his car.
When deputies arrived, they called a SWAT team and a crisis negotiator and evacuated several surrounding homes.
Five hours later, deputies say Gino Joseph Charles Salinas surrendered and was booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon and firing at an inhabited vehicle. Bail was set at $50,000.
