Police: Rare Comic Taken From Nicolas Cage Resurfaces

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a rare comic featuring the debut of Superman that re-surfaced last week is the same one stolen from Nicolas Cage more than a decade ago.

Detective Don Hrycyk says an investigation into how the comic was stolen and found is underway. It is unclear whether the copy of Action Comics No. 1 will be returned directly to the Oscar-winning actor.

Hrycyk says Cage accepted an insurance payout after its theft in 2000.

In March 2010, a copy of the 1938 comic sold from $1.5 million. The Ventura County Star first reported the discovery and said that the comic was recently found in a storage locker in the San Fernando Valley, which is north of Los Angeles.

Even though he got the pay off from the insurance, I think he should get it back.

It doesn’t work that way… That would be like having your car stolen, getting paid from the insurance company, only to have the car returned 2 months later… You get one of the other, insurance is not designed for you to profit from.

And you base your comment on what?
Insurance Paid and now thy own it.
What part of insurance do you not understand?

It should go back to him and gives back the insurance money…if he can. Everyone is a winner and don’t forget about the idiot who could not unload the comic…send him away!!!!

  5. Giada says:

Glad to hear he recovered the stolen comic. Hopefully now he will recover his ability to make a decent movie.

      Hahaha true!

  6. Comic Book Superhero says:

The insurance company owns the comic now so now it’ll go up for sale. If Cage wants it back then he can use the insurance money to buy it back. There’s no way Cage is going to give back the insurance money….would you???

    1. jt says:

      depends…what’s more profitable. lol

    2. Duh! says:

Cage can’t give back the money. He is in a deep hole finance wise right now. That is why he is making as many movies as he can to try to dig himself out. This may also be contributing to why his current movies are not as good as his past portfolio has been.
