Palm Desert Man Accused Of Killing Man, 2-Year-Old Girl

PALM DESERT (CBS2) — A suspect accused of killing a man and his 2-year-old daughter in Palm Desert is behind bars.

Detectives believe that 42-year-old Juan Carlos Alcala (pictured on the right) shot and killed 24-year-old Felipe Lozano and his young daughter Friday in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

According to victim's brother, Fernando Lozano, the two men got into an argument in the apartment's complex over a scratch on the victim's truck.

Lozano's mother was also wounded in the shooting. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg, but has since been released.

"He just walked in there and started shooting in there, like crazy," Fernando said.

Alcala has been booked on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports. He is being held on $1 million bail.
