Gas Prices Continue To Rise In Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline rose Sunday for the eighteenth consecutive day in Los Angeles County.

Figures provided by AAA and Oil Price Information Service show that the average price is $4.144. That's 7.7 cents higher than a week ago, 21.5 cents above what it was one month ago and $1.046 greater than it was one year ago. In fact, it's the highest since Aug. 8, 2008.

The good news?

It's still 48.2 cents less than the record high of $4.626 set on June 21, 2008.

In Orange County, the average price also increased seven tenths of a cent to $4.133, the highest since Aug. 6, 2008.

The Orange County average price is 7.5 cents more than a week ago, 22.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.038 above what it was one year ago. It's still 46.5 cents less than the record high of $4.598 set on June 19, 2008.
