Chains Required On Big Pines Highway, Mount Baldy Ski Area

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Overnight snow forced chain control requirements in higher elevations of Los Angeles County Saturday.

But major freeway passes at Acton and Grapevine remained clear and open, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Chains were required all night and in the morning hours above the 5,500-foot elevation line on Big Pines Highway between the Antelope Valley and Wrightwood. That area includes the Mountain High Ski Resort.

On the southern side of the San Gabriel Mountains, chains were required to access the Mount Baldy Ski Area. Chain control was established from Ice House Canyon Road north to the ski area parking lot.
