Unseasonably Cold Storm Brings Snow, Rain To Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An unseasonably cold storm is bringing scattered showers and snow to Los Angeles County.

"While moisture with this system is somewhat limited, the atmosphere will become unstable due to the extremely cold air aloft," according to the National Weather Service. "This should allow for numerous showers to develop across the mountains and Antelope Valley later this morning and this afternoon, continuing through this evening."

High surf is also expected, as well as thunderstorms along the coast. Waterspouts are also possible.

The snow level will drop to about 2,000 feet, making road conditions icy along Interstate 5, according to the Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory for mountain areas was scheduled to be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
