Deputy Shoots, Injures Suspect In Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY (CBS) — A sheriff’s deputy shot a suspect Thursday near the entrance to the Cathedral City Cove area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
No deputies were injured, but radio transmissions indicated the suspect was critically injured in the 1:05 p.m. shooting.
The shooting took place near the intersection of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Road, just a few blocks south of Highway 111, sheriff’s officials said. The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately released.
It also wasn’t clear why sheriff’s department personnel were patrolling within the Cathedral City Police Department’s jurisdiction.
