Katie Couric Rumored To Be Leaving ‘CBS Evening News’

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — CBS is responding to reports that Katie Couric is leaving her post as anchor of the network’s Evening News.

The Associated Press is reporting that Couric will leave the anchor desk less than five years after she took over the job. Her contract expires June 4.

The AP says it got its information from an unnamed network executive.

A CBS spokesperson tells CBS2/KCAL9 that “we’re having ongoing discussions with Katie Couric. We have no announcements to make at this time. Until we do, we will continue to decline comment on rumor and speculation.”

She should leave. It’s about time she stopped being beat on. She’s much too talented. Anchoring 6PM network news solo is not her venue. And boy, did people let her know it. She’s the same as Barbara Walters. Come to find out, Barbara’s niche is doing tough interviews, not news. Katie has to find her niche. Good luck Katie. Win one for the women…….

Ida – I have to agree with you that Couric is NOT a hard news journalist. Katie already found her niche. She should have stuck with the Today Show.

Couric had her spot with the Today show and she should have stayed there. Hard news stories once in a while is fine, but sadly the only woman other then Barbara Walters who can be accepted delivering hard news is Diane Sawyer. Both of them have the balls for it. Couric just doesn’t.
