Felon Arrested For Allegedly Trying To Shoot His Roommate

MURRIETA (CBS) — A convicted felon has been arrested for allegedly trying to shoot his female roommate, authorities said Friday.

Norman Ray Lee, 46, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly opened fire on 25-year-old Robin Bomar, according to Murrieta police Sgt. Phil Gomez.

Lee, who is being held on $1 million bail at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, had been renting a room to Bomar for several months at his house in the 35000 block of McElwain Road.

He apparently became upset with the victim and allegedly shot at her three times, according to the sergeant.

"After the shooting, Bomar fled the residence on foot as Lee chased her in his vehicle," Gomez said.

Murrieta police officers spotted Lee driving into a wooded area near the intersection of McElwain Road and Linnel Lane, the sergeant said.

A Riverside County sheriff's helicopter was called in to help locate Lee, who was taken into custody after he was found "hiding behind a set of large rocks," Gomez said.

No injuries were reported.
