LA Stadium Backers Share Stage, Tout Proposals
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The backers of two rival NFL stadium proposals for the Los Angeles area have joined each other on stage for a panel discussion on one of the few things they can agree on: football's potential value to the region.
Majestic Realty Co. vice president John Semcken said at Thursday's event that his company's proposed venue 15 miles east of Los Angeles will draw fans to the city without exposing it to any development risks.
AEG operations chief Dan Beckerman said his company's proposal for a downtown Los Angeles stadium is the better alternative because it also entails much-needed improvements to the adjacent convention center.
The two companies are vying to bring football back to Los Angeles more than 15 years after the Rams and Raiders left the huge market.
