My son Eric was diagnosed with autism at age 4. He did not speak until he was 5. We were given an extremely poor prognosis. Eric graduated as his high school’s salutatorian last June. He made the dean’s list during his first semester at college. He is majoring in biology and Spanish. He hopes to be a pharamacist. We are looking for universities that would want him and scholarships. He also got his license last August. The miracle here is that he grew up to be a very nice and empathetic young man. He has done a few public speaking engagements with the limited time that he has. During autism awareness month, I hope his story gives hope to other famiilies, as we are definitely autism survivors.
