LAWNDALE (CBS) — A 31-year-old man was stabbed to death in Lawndale Wednesday.

The stabbing occurred at 3:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of 164th Street, between Hawthorne Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue, according to Deputy Lillian Peck of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The victim was declared dead at the scene, Peck said.

Sheriff’s homicide investigators were sent to investigate the circumstances of the stabbing.

The man’s name is withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

I have not said a single rude thing here, I have called no one an idiot. I pointed out the homicides because they can be and are in this case representative of violence.

This has nothing to do with the violence in Inglewood, Gardena or Compton, I am only speaking of Lawndale, and by ANY measure, it is on the rise.

I did send my condolence to you and ur family I live right around the corner from this happening and it was just very sad to hear what happend… It’s just so sad how people could act so ignorant it’s it’s very embarrassing even tho I don’t know none of these people that has made rude comments towards ur family member. but again I send my true blessing to you and your family!!

He was our son, he was not perfect neither of us are but this did not have to have happened.

We will ignore these hurtful comments afterall we all enjoy our first ammendment rights.

I only hope non of you ever have to bring a son or loved on home in a closed casket never to be viewed again by his father and step-mother because he was stabbed so very many times in the head and neck. 41 is much to young to bury one’s son. I pray for you all.

I was informed about this today. James was a dear friend and ex. I am deeply distraught by what happened. James was a compassionate, supportive, and loving individual. He didn’t deserve this. Robbed his life by some spineless 22 yo piece of flaming excrement. He’s lucky the cops got to him before I. The love I have and have had for years for James will never cease. Know that my heart goes out to the Dukes family. He will be truly missed in my heart.
