Police: Man Tortured Family With Monkey Wrench, Broken Glass Over Drug

SAN BERNARDINO (CBS/AP) — Police say a San Bernardino man angry over stolen drugs stabbed, beat and tortured his wife and family before murdering his teenage son.

The San Bernardino Sun says Ian Roderiquez tortured his family for 11 hours over charges that they confiscated his drugs during last week's ordeal.

Family members told police that the 35-year-old Roderiquez stabbed family members, beat them with a monkey wrench, forced them to walk on broken glass and threatened to set them on fire.

His son, Richard, was found dead in the garage on March 23. His 35-year-old wife, Sujal, is in critical condition.

Two other children — Jacob, 13, and Gabriel, 12 — also remain hospitalized.

Daughters Daniella, 10, and Yasmine, 8, were treated for injuries.

Roderiquez has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, torture and child abuse.
