Tree Falls In Sunland Leaving Thousands Powerless

SUNLAND (CBS) — A tree fell onto a residential street Saturday in Sunland, knocking down power lines and leaving 2,400 customers in the dark, but no one was injured, city fire and utility officials said.

The fallen tree was reported at 3:58 p.m. near the intersection of Fenwick Street and Sherman Grove Avenue, said Cecil Manresa of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It knocked down power lines as it crashed onto Sherman Grove Avenue, knocking out electricity to 2,400 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers, said DWP's Maychelle Yee.

At 6 p.m., repair crews were waiting for the tree and debris to be cleared from the area before repairing the line, Yee said.
