14-Year-Old Boy To Stand Trial As Adult For Stabbing

VACAVILLE (AP) — A 14-year-old Vacaville boy has been ordered to stand trial as an adult on charges of raping and stabbing a 13-year-old girl and attacking her toddler brother.

A Solano County judge ruled at the end of a preliminary hearing on Friday that there was sufficient evidence for Alexander Cervantes to face trial.

According to The Reporter of Vacaville, he is charged with attempted murder and rape among other counts. He has pleaded not guilty.

Police say Cervantes broke into the girl's Vacaville home on Dec. 12, stabbed her 42 times and raped her and stabbed her 18-month-old brother. He then allegedly fell asleep at the home.

Cervantes was apparently acquainted with the victims' 16-year-old brother, who was in Juvenile Hall during the attack.

According to police, Cervantes told the girl the attack was revenge for her brother snitching on someone.
