Sheriff’s Deputies Fatally Shoot Man While On House Drug Search

LAKELAND VILLAGE (CBS)  — Sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man Friday while searching for drugs at a residence in Lakeland Village, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The man was shot around 7 a.m., as members of the sheriff’s Southwest Corridor Drug Taskforce were serving a narcotics search warrant in the 32000 block of Rome Hill Road, said sheriff’s Deputy Courtney Donowho.

The man died at the scene, Donowho said. His identity was withheld.

No officers were injured.

“We don’t know what led up to [the shooting]; they are investigating right now,” Donowho said.

Okay….was the man armed or not? You would figure that most important fact existed for a deadly shooting to occur anyway. Always seems like they are trying to make sure their stories stick before going public. Seems sketchy. If the guy had gun, knife or other weapon, great. If not, bad deputies.

The man doesn’t need to be armed to present an immediate threat to the offiicers.

They with hold information on purpose until the investigation is over. There doing it by the book.

I’m sure the cop was neurotic and itchy-fingered. I mean, check out the photo–does he gnaw his nails or what? And why would he still have his weapon brandished after the scene tape was put up?
