Santa Ana Man, 25, Gets 38 Years To Life For Repeatedly Raping Minor Female Relative

SANTA ANA (CNS) — A 25-year-old Santa Ana man who repeatedly sexually assaulted a young female relative, starting when she was 6 years old, was sentenced to 38 years to life in state prison Friday.

Luis Alberto Otero was convicted by a jury Jan. 19 of two felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Otero began sexually assaulting the girl in April 2003, according to prosecutors.

When she was 8 years old, he sodomized her in an elevator, according to prosecutors.

Another time, while she was 8 years old and was outside her home playing with a friend, Otero lured her away with the promise of buying her a Slurpee at 7-Eleven, but Otero dragged her into an alley, where he raped her twice while she tried to get away, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Otero sexually assaulted the girl until May 2007, according to prosecutors. The girl eventually told a school social worker about the attacks.

Otero's relationship to the victim was not specified in an attempt to preserve her privacy.
