California Woman's Bone Found 10 Years After Her Disappearance

LOMPOC (AP) — Investigators in California have found a jaw bone belonging to a woman who was last seen nearly 10 years ago when she visited a casino with a friend.

Authorities said at a press conference Wednesday that DNA tests showed the bone found in a remote area of northern Santa Barbara County belongs to Dana McPeek.

The 33-year-old from the Central Coast town of Lompoc disappeared in May 2001. The pickup truck she had been driving was found abandoned in an alley.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown says the site where the bone was found will be excavated for additional clues when the wet weather improves.

A $10,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
