Metro's Dodger Express Is Back Starting Monday

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Metro will start its express bus service from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to Dodger Stadium beginning with Monday's exhibition game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Starting on March 28th, and continuing through the entire season, the service will provide a vast network of buses and trains coming into Union Station, including additional late-night service on three of its popular lines. Service for those with Dodger tickets will be provided 90 minutes prior to the beginning of the games and end 45 minutes after the game.

"We encourage fans to take advantage of public throughout the season to save time and money," said Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metro Board Chairman Don Knabe.

Last year more than 122,000 fans rode the express. This year, the program budget has received an increase and is financed by a $450,000 grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, and from a portion of vehicle registration fees set aside for projects that result in emission reductions.

Train service from Union Station will operate for weekday home games on the Antelope Valley, San Bernardino and Ventura County lines.  The express will operate from the Patsaouras Bus Plaza adjacent to the east portal of Union Station and continue to Dodger Stadium via Sunset Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up in the Dodgers parking lot behind left-center field.  Round trip tickets on Metrolink trains associated with the Dodger home games will cost between $8 and $10, depending on the distance traveled.  Check Metrolink for schedules.
