Apple Pulls ‘Gay Cure’ App From iTunes Store

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Apple has removed a controversial iPhone application, intended to help gay people become heterosexual, from its App Store after thousand of people signed an online petition, according to a report by 1010 WINS.

“It’s a good thing that this app was pulled because it’s incredibly offensive, it has tons of misinformation and is really just a smear campaign against the gay and lesbian community,” Wayne Besen, the executive director of Truth Wins Out told 1010 WINS.

The app, created by Exodus International, had been available on the App Store for five weeks, according to a report by The Huffington Post.

According to its website, Exodus International is “the world’s largest ministry to individuals and families impacted by homosexuality.”

Apple pulled the app after determining that it violated their guidelines by being “offensive to large groups of individuals,” a spokesperson told the Huffington Post.

Prior to being removed, the app had received a “4” rating from Apple, indicating that the company considered it to have “no objectionable material,” the website reported.

Apple did not comment on the app’s initial rating, according to the report.

Apple, thank you for pulling it. Now tho, why was it there in the first place?

  2. Scott says:

How about just don’t download it if it’s offensive? People are such intellectual wusses these days.

Just shows that there really is no freedom to choose and that the gay folks are more concerned about trampling other’s right to choose than being “tolerant”. Can’t actually wrap their selfish minds around the fact that some people don’t want to be bisexual!

  4. Duh! says:

Wow, Apple stomps all over free speech and embraces censorship.

If you don’t like the app, then don’t buy it.

  5. Apple says:

It was in the app store, therefore approved by apple. Therefore, it is a quality app…. … … …
