Man's Body Found Face-Down In Canyon Country Riverbed

SANTA CLARITA (CBS) —  The body of a man was found face-down in the Santa Clara River bottom Tuesday in the Canyon Country area of Santa Clarita.

Authorities were sent to the riverbed near Soledad Canyon Road and Langside Avenue about 2 p.m., said Jerry McKibben, an investigator with the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

It's not clear how the unidentified man died, but McKibben said that at this point, the death was listed as accidental. There was speculation that the deceased may have been swept into the water during last weekend's strong storm.

Katie Clark, reporting overhead in Sky9, said the body was found at Soledad Canyon and Whites Canyon Road.
