Baby's Death Prompts Reissue Of 2009 Crib Recall

WASHINGTON, D.C (AP) — The death of a seven-month-old girl has prompted a reissue of a 2009 crib recall.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reissued Tuesday a 2008 recall of more than 985,000 drop-side cribs by Delta Enterprise Corp. because of the death of a Colorado Springs, CO baby.

The cribs were sold at major retail stores including Kmart and Target between January 1995 and December 2005.

CPSC said missing safety pegs can create a situation where the crib's drop-side rail disengages from the track, creating a dangerous gap where an infant can become entrapped and suffocate.

Officials say two deaths can be attributed to the cribs.
