Lawmakers To Take Up Second Half Of Budget Deficit

SACRAMENTO (AP) — With half the state budget gap resolved, California lawmakers saved the toughest decisions for this week as they decide on possible tax extensions and whether to eliminate local redevelopment agencies.

Gov. Jerry Brown wants lawmakers to call a special election June 7 so voters can decide whether to extend increases in the sales, personal income and vehicle taxes enacted two years ago. He also has proposed deep spending cuts to close the nearly $27 billion shortfall.

Those cuts account for most of the $14 billion lawmakers shaved off the deficit last week.

No GOP lawmakers have publicly supported Brown’s plan, but the governor is putting his hopes on a group of five Republican senators who say they are willing to compromise in exchange for pension reforms and a spending cap.

WHAT’S THERE TO THINK ABOUT? JUST ELIMINATE THE WASTEFUL WELFAIRE & MEDICAL SPENDING TO THE POOR.

ALSO, GET RID OF AUTOMATIC CITIZENSHIPS TO BABIES OF ILLEGALS BORN ON US SOIL.

WHY KEEP ON LAYING OFF GOVERNMENT WORKERS, POSTAL, COPS, FIREMEN, TEACHERS, WHEN YOU’RE WASTING SO MUCH $$$ ON ILLEGALS?

I agree!!! That is what Pete Wilson did. He cut off most of their aid. Then they all went to Arizona. Cut off all aid and maybe they’ll go back to where they came from. Why are we laying off US citizens to support illegals??? Keep us working and lay them off of welfare!!!

  2. Joe says:

Cut off the aid to all of the illegals, So does that mean you all want to cut the aid to all of the seniors that paid into the system. At this time they are struggling with the high cost of food and gas, also all of the utilities have gone up high. Stop spending money on illegals that give them a free ride in education and in colleges or universities. Stop give money to mexico and other countries. stop pay all of the state administrators, also school administration and Mayors council members. Then all cities and that state will be-able to pay for a lot more thing that the people of this state needs
