Elite LA Rescue Team Returns From Japan


LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — The elite Los Angeles County Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue team that assisted in rescue and recovery efforts in Japan returned to Los Angeles.

The 74-member California Task Force 2 arrived at Los Angeles International Airport about 4 p.m. Saturday.

Some members of the team had just returned from New Zealand before flying to Japan.

The task force, which left for Japan a week ago, is comprised of firefighters, emergency room doctors, engineers, hazardous materials technicians and members specially trained in underwater rescue.
