LA Company Recalls Serrano Peppers Due To Salmonella Threat

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Los Angeles-based company has recalled their Serrano peppers because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

World Variety Produce, Inc., announced they were recalling those peppers sold in Walmart stores in Wisconsin, Montana, Utah and Wyoming and Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois between the dates of March 1 through March 18.

They have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
