Former Fire Captain Guilty Of Second-Degree Murder

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — A former Los Angeles fire captain has been found guilty of killing a homeless woman whose body was dumped on an Eagle Rock street in the summer of 2006.

David Del Toro faces 25 years to life in state prison.

Prosecutors say Del Toro, a 23-year fire veteran, beat and strangled acquaintance Jennifer Flores at his Eagle Rock home in August 2006 and dumped her nude body on the street a mile away.

Del Toro denied trying to have sex with her and says he doesn't remember killing her. His lawyers argued that he blacked out from alcohol and exhaustion after a grueling 36-hour shift and couldn't have killed her.
