Christian School Teacher Admits To Sex With Underage Student
SAN FERNANDO (CBS) — A Christian school teacher from Granada Hills admitted Tuesday to sex related-charges involving an underage student.
Mark Stephen Hubbard, 51, pleaded no contest to one count each of sexual intercourse with a minor, sodomy of a person under 18 and eight counts of oral copulation of a person under 18. Hubbard faces nine years in state prison when he is sentenced on April 1.
Hubbard is also expected to be ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Hubbard was a teacher at Hillcrest Christian School in Granada Hills for eight years and served as health teacher, athletic director and assistant coach for the boys basketball and baseball teams. He was arrested late last year in connection with the crimes that occurred between April and November 2010
Authorities would not reveal the gender or age of the victim, except to say the youth was a high school student.
School spokesman Rick Donnelly said last December that Hubbard had been placed on leave pending the outcome of the case.
