California Nuclear Plants Can Handle Earthquakes

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Operators at California’s two nuclear plants say their facilities can withstand a higher magnitude earthquake than scientists predict could ever strike the plants.

They said Monday that the San Onofre and Diablo Canyon plants can handle earthquakes of magnitude up to 7 and 7.5, respectively.

Americans have become increasingly concerned about domestic facilities in the wake of fears of nuclear crisis in Japan.

Earthquakes and a tsunami have damaged at least two nuclear complexes in Japan and officials have declared states of emergency at six of the country’s 55 reactors.

This is pure propaganda. No one in their right mind should believe this tripe.
The first time California gets what Japan received, it will cause a major catastophe with those California nuke plants and the ones who now are bragging will be forced to admit that they lied.

The above comment by Mr. Bleming is absolutely correct. Anyone thinking that our reactors are exempt from the damage as seen in Japan is fooling themselves. Keep in mind that General Electric helped to engineer the plant impacted by the earthquake in Japan. There is no magic to the construction here in the U.S>A> The Japanese plants are constructed to the highest standards in the World.

I agree – the article states 7. to 7.5 – Japan was hit with a 9.0 – so then the experts are unknown. It is then possible that they believe it may not withstand a catastrophic earth quake.

Wait—-the most they can withstand is 7.0 or 7.5???? In other words, if a quake like Japan’s 8.9 hits, then it’s Three Mile Island or Chernobyl in California?

They won’t have to wait too long. On March 19th the Moon will be, I believe 35 to 40 thousand miles CLOSER to our planet, meanwhile ‘our’ government has released a statement (see internet web sites dealing with this upcoming event),saying that ‘nothing’ will happen.
Who are they trying to kid?
Remember all that was told to us, about the way the Moon played a major role on our planets tides?
Now, we are supposed to believe the opposite of what has been stated before.
These clowns are liars and if anything happens, they should be held fully accountable for what they have stated.
