Mel Gibson Pleads No Contest To Misdemeanor Battery

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Mel Gibson pleaded no contest Friday afternoon to misdemeanor battery stemming from a 2010 dispute with his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

KNX 1070’s Bill Cooper says 55-year-old Gibson pleaded no contest as part of a plea deal.

In the deal, the actor was placed on three years probation and sentenced to 16 hours of community service and 52 weeks in a domestic violence counseling program. The Academy Award winner must also pay a $400 fine.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has chosen not to file charges against Grigorieva, who was investigated for allegedly trying to extort money from the actor.

  • Robert S.

If I did something like that, they would lock me up, and throw the key away! This is what happens when you have lots of money! Where is the justice? He should be in lock up for a min. of 6 months with no early release! What is rong with our Justice system? They gonna give him a key to the city, or something?

  • So what!!

For someone that rich & powerful, if Oksana Grigorieva is the best he can get, then that’s pathetic. He looks like an illegal.

  • So what!!

By he i meant to say she looks like an illegal.
