COSTA MESA (AP) — Police in Orange County say a man has been critically injured after crashing into a patrol car where his two sons were sitting.
Costa Mesa police Sgt. Jerry Hildeman says the sons also are hospitalized with injuries.
Hildeman tells City News Service that shortly after midnight Thursday police went to a home and arrested two men who’d allegedly been involved in a domestic dispute with their father.
Hildeman says the father wasn’t home, but police later tried to stop his car, leading to a chase.
The sergeant says it ended when the father crashed his Toyota Tacoma head-on into the parked patrol car at 60 mph.
Hildeman says it’s not clear whether the man knew his sons were in the police car at the time.
