LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man, who may be armed, has barricaded himself inside a hotel room in downtown Los Angeles.

Security went to the man’s room at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel on Figueroa street to ask him to leave after he refused to check out.  According to Los Angeles police officer Mel Miranda of Central Station, the man told security guards that he has a gun.

Police say a SWAT team is en route to negotiate with the victim and several of the surrounding rooms have been evacuated.  Flower Street was also closed during the investigation.

I agree, Luis!! CBS is STLL a major news source– there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for such a complete breakdown of grammatical standards.

This story just broke. Look at the time. The first paragraph is in the past tense because it refers to what has already happened and the second paragraph refers to what was happening as he wrote it. Perhaps the writer could have helped make this more clear with a transitory sentence, but writing what is currently happening in the present tense is not quite as dangerous as a “gun”. LOL. Take a chill pill!!!

I like grammatical mistakes in the mass-media. It compounds the difficulties educators face in keeping American students to the same level of academic rigor found in European schools. Maybe European and Japanese businesses will then outsource their cheap and undesirable jobs back to the US so Rory’s grandchildren can find employment. May the monolingual, obese, white American face become the new symbol of cheap labor.

    Go evaluate a Palin speech
