Irvine House Fire Injures 1, Leaves 8 Homeless

IRVINE (CBS) — A house fire in Irvine left one man burned and a family displaced.

The fire happened at a home in the 400 block of Deerfield Ave. around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

According to The Orange County Register, investigators believe the fire was caused by a handyman who was doing plumbing work on a bathroom. Officials say the fire spread from the bathroom, up a wall and to the attic.

The Register reports that the handyman suffered burns to his arms and was treated at a local hospital.

Damage estimates were unknown.

The fire displaced seven adults and one child, according to The Register.
