Families Brace For Cuts To LA Library Services

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Demonstrators on Sunday held a rally outside a shuttered Los Angeles City Library in support of Measure "L" on Tuesday's ballot.

The measure would restore library hours, the book budget and services.

Sena is a mother of two who who tells KNX 1070 she's had to change the family routine to cope with cuts in library services.

The city's 73 libraries were hit hard by budget cuts, including the city council's decision to limit library service to five days a week from Tuesday through Saturday and the layoffs of over 328 staff members were laid off.

In addition, Governor Jerry Brown has proposed eliminating all state funding for public libraries.
