LOS ANGELES (AP) — The murder trial of a former Los Angeles fire captain accused of beating and strangling a homeless woman is expected to reach the jury Tuesday.
Deliberations are expected to begin for 54-year-old David Del Toro.
In closing arguments Monday, a prosecutor argued that Del Toro killed Jennifer Flores at his Eagle Rock home in 2006 after she refused his sexual advances. Her nude body was found about a mile from the home.
A defense lawyer argued that the 23-year veteran of the Fire Department went to bed drunk and exhausted after a long shift and that someone else assaulted Flores.
Del Toro faces 25 years to life in state prison if he’s convicted of first-degree murder.
