Wanted Sex Offender Faces Arraignment For Assaulting 2 Teens

ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CBS) —  A registered sex offender wanted in Texas for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting two teenagers is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Pomona Superior Court to face warrants, including one for alleged sexual assaults in the San Gabriel Valley in 1984.

Sylvester Nathan Larrabee, 54, was arrested Feb. 16 in Pete Schabarum Regional Park in Rowland Heights, said Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Deputy Jeannette Freeman from the sheriff's Park Bureau saw Larrabee sitting in a car in a parking lot. He began to act nervously and drove away when he saw her, Parker said.

Freeman stopped Larrabee for a traffic violation and identified him with an address in Lake Elsinore, Parker said.

A check for warrants revealed Larrabee was a registered sex offender wanted in El Paso, Texas for the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of two teens, Parker said.

It was also discovered that a felony warrant had been issued by the Pomona court for a 1984 alleged felony sexual battery in the San Gabriel Valley, Parker said.

Larrabee was first taken to the sheriff's Walnut Station and then Los Angeles County Jail. Bail for the warrant issued by the Pomona court was set at $250,000.

Bail is not allowed on the Texas warrant, Parker said.

Larrabee is expected to be extradited to El Paso after his case in Pomona is completed, Parker said.
