HESPERIA (CBS) — Authorities are searching for a Hesperia teen that has been missing since last week.
Officials say Jessie Bender, 13, was reported missing Feb. 24. Authorities are treating the case as a runaway based on an initial police investigation.
According to Bender’s mother, the teenager was last seen around midnight on Feb. 22 at the family’s home.
Bender’s mother said Jesse was upset and didn’t want to go on an upcoming trip to Pakistan. Authorities say there is no evidence of foul play and believe the teen left willingly, as she packed some of her belongings.
Bender’s family said Jesse may have left with someone she met online. Investigators say that person will be questioned.
Bender is described at 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds with green eyes and brown, shoulder-length hair.
Anyone with information should call Hesperia Police Dept. at (760) 947-1500.
An amber alert has not been issued.
