KROQ's 'Psycho' Mike Catherwood, 10 Others Picked For 'Dancing With The Stars'

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — KROQ's Mike Catherwood, aka "Psycho Mike,"  isn't exactly a household name...certainly not nationally. So how did he end up as a contestant on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars" ...?

A recent fill-in appearance as replacement Regis on "Regis and Kelly" surely had a lot to do with. The radio sidekick and co-host of "Loveline", who bears an uncanny resemblance to Kelly's husband Mark Consuelos, clearly made a name for himself and got lots of attention from ABC brass for his one-day star-making stint. (Pictures of Catherwood in a Speedo from his days as a bodybuilder, probably didn't hurt either.)

Catherwood quipped to KROQ this evening, "Every single year when they announce the cast for 'Dancing with the Stars', we sit here at Kevin & Bean and go 'Who's that guy?' and now I'm gonna be that guy this year."

Other "Dancers" named Monday night include: Kirstie Alley of "Cheers" fame, former Hefner-girlfriend and reality star Kendra Wilkinson, talk show host Wendy Williams, WWE wrestler Chris Jericho, rapper Lil' Romeo, Disney teen Chelsea Kane, Pittsburgh Steeler Hines Ward, actor and "Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio, retired boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Czech supermodel Pertra Nemcova, known for surviving the 2004 tsunami that killed her fiance.
