SUN VALLEY (CBS) — A 17-year-old girl, who died in a car crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley, was identified Saturday as a North Hollywood resident.
Arlette Cruz was ejected from the front passenger seat of a 1991 Honda Accord about 1:50 p.m. Friday on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway north of Sheldon Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin.
The vehicle spun out of control and overturned multiple times, Martin said. According to authorities, Cruz died at the scene.
Cruz was with an 18-year-old driver from Sun Valley, whose name was withheld, Martin said. That driver was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, he said.
