Rizzo Released From Hospital, Will Be Back In Court Monday

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Former Bell city administrator Robert Rizzo has been released from the hospital and will be back in court Monday as scheduled, according to his attorney James Spertus.

KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reports Rizzo was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital from the courthouse Wednesday after experience light-headedness and chest pain.

Spertus would not disclose further information about Rizzo's medical condition, but that his client would simply be well enough for court.

"He's looking forward to continuing with the preliminary hearing," Spertus told the Los Angeles Times.

Rizzo and several other current and former Bell officials have been accused of public corruption and misuse of public funds. Rizzo collected a nearly $800,000 salary as a public employee, drawing nationwide outrage.
