Police Pursue Suspect Along 101 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man who authorities say led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase through Hollywood was arrested near Universal Studios.

The chase began about 4:40 p.m. when CHP officers tried to stop the sport utility vehicle on the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway near Sheldon Street, CHP Officer Krystal Carter said.

"Officers tried to stop him for a traffic violation and he sped away," Carter said.

The man got onto surface streets and sped down Hollywood Boulevard near where the road is closed because of this weekend's Academy Awards.

He turned onto Vine Street and circled back to the freeway, before getting off at Universal CityWalk and stopping on the approach to the parking lots.

No injuries were reported.
