LAFD Warns Of Con Artists Seeking Donations For Fallen Firefighter

View Comments

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles fire officials Tuesday warned the public about con artists soliciting donations in the name of a firefighter killed last week.

“If anyone tries to contact you via phone, e-mail or front door, attempting to collect money on behalf of the Los Angeles Fire Department and/or fallen firefighter Glenn Allen, call 911,” Capt. Jaime Moore said.

“There have been recent reports of people going door-to-door carrying cans, asking for money, taking advantage of this tragedy,” Moore said. “Our deepest condolences go out to the Allen family.”

Allen, 61, was fatally injured in a fire in the 1500 block of North Viewsite Drive Wednesday night when a water-saturated ceiling caved-in on him. A candlelight vigil is set for Thursday, and his funeral will be held Friday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

All though tragic and sad that Con artist would be doing this I think calling 911 is a little extreme call the Police get a good discription a license plate number but don’t call 911 because the 911 operator should not sent the Police with Red Light’s and sirens because some low life is asking for money.
